Terms of Use
These Terms are the agreement between you and Emin Karaman, who runs Filmdex. You accept them when you create an account. Please read them together with the Privacy Policy.
About these Terms
Filmdex (https://filmdex.app) is a website for collecting films: a film joins your collection when you pass a short quiz about it. It is run by Emin Karaman, a private individual (“we”, “us”). These Terms, version 2026-10, apply from 22 October 2026 to everyone who uses Filmdex; the rules on content and acceptable use also apply to visitors who are not signed in.
Who can use Filmdex
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. By signing up you confirm that you are.
- The information you give at sign-up must be accurate and about you. You may not create an account for someone else or pretend to be another person.
- You may not create a new account to get around a suspension or a block.
Your account
- Keep your password secret and do not share your account. You are responsible for what is done with your account unless it was used without your fault; tell us at once if you think someone else has access to it.
- Your username must not be offensive or misleading, or infringe the rights of others (for example a trademark, or another person's name used to impersonate them). We may ask you to change a username that breaks these rules and change it ourselves if you do not.
- You can delete your account at any time from your profile (Settings → Delete account).
The service
- Filmdex is free. We do not sell anything and there are no ads.
- We may change, add or remove features, and we may interrupt the service for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. We try to keep Filmdex available but cannot promise that it will always be available or free of errors.
- If we decide to close Filmdex, we will tell registered users in advance where possible, so that they can download their data.
The quiz and fair play
- A film joins your collection only when you pass its quiz: 10 questions, at least 7 correct answers. Quizzes are graded on our server; the correct answers are never sent to your browser.
- After an unsuccessful attempt you must wait before trying the same film again, and the wait grows with repeated attempts within 24 hours (10 minutes, then 1 hour, then 24 hours). An attempt you leave after answering at least one question counts as unsuccessful.
- Questions are written automatically from film information and can occasionally be wrong. Use the report option in the quiz to flag a question.
- Play fair: do not use bots, scripts or other automated means, do not share or collect answers to build an answer bank, and do not exploit errors in the site. We may remove films, scores or badges obtained by cheating and may suspend the accounts involved.
Acceptable use
You must not use Filmdex to:
- post or send anything illegal, or anything that harasses, threatens or bullies others or incites hatred or violence;
- upload sexually explicit, violent or otherwise inappropriate images, or images of other people without their permission;
- impersonate a person or organisation, or mislead others about who you are;
- send spam, advertising or chain messages, including through recommendations;
- infringe copyright, trademarks, privacy or other rights of others;
- collect other users' data, scrape the site, or access it by automated means other than an ordinary web browser;
- probe, scan or test the security of Filmdex, interfere with its operation, or get around its limits, bot checks or access controls;
- upload malware or anything else designed to harm devices or data.
If you discover a security vulnerability, please tell us at supportfilmdex@gmail.com instead of exploiting it.
Your content
- Your content is what you add to your profile or send to others: your bio, your profile photo, your recommendation messages and the details in your reports. You remain its owner.
- You give us a free, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to store, copy, resize, re-encode and display your content, only as far as needed to run Filmdex and to show it to the people your settings allow. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups during their limited lifetime and content we must keep for a report or for a legal reason.
- You confirm that you have the rights needed for everything you upload, and that a photo of a person shows you or someone who has agreed to it.
- Do not put sensitive personal information, about yourself or anyone else, in your bio, messages or reports.
Reports, moderation and removal
- You can report a profile, a profile photo, a bio or a recommendation message with the Report button, or by writing to supportfilmdex@gmail.com.
- We review reports and act on content that is illegal or breaks these Terms. Depending on the case we may remove or hide content (for example reset a photo or a bio), restrict features, or suspend or delete an account. We may also act on our own initiative.
- Where appropriate, we tell the person concerned what we did and why, unless the law prevents it or the situation requires otherwise (for example spam, or a risk to someone's safety). If you disagree with a decision, write to us and we will look at it again.
- We do not tell anyone who filed a report, unless the law requires us to disclose it.
- We remove or disable access to illegal content once we become aware of it, as required by applicable law, including Turkish Law No. 5651 and, for users in the European Union, the Digital Services Act (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065). We cooperate with competent authorities where the law requires it.
Copyright and takedown notices
If you believe that content on Filmdex infringes your copyright or other rights, or is otherwise illegal, send a notice to supportfilmdex@gmail.com with:
- your name and contact details (and, if you act for someone else, on whose behalf);
- a description of the work or right concerned;
- where the content is (the username, a link or a screenshot);
- why you believe it is infringing or illegal;
- a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and given in good faith.
We handle notices without undue delay. We may pass the substance of a notice (not your contact details, unless that is necessary) to the person who posted the content, so that they can respond. We may disregard notices that are clearly unfounded or abusive.
Film data and third-party content
- Film information and images come from TMDB (The Movie Database). This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
- Film titles, posters, backdrops, trailers and other film material belong to their respective rights holders. Filmdex shows them to identify films; it is not affiliated with or endorsed by any studio, distributor or other rights holder.
- Trailers play from YouTube under YouTube's own terms. Links to other sites are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content.
- Film information may be incomplete or inaccurate. Tell us if something is wrong; corrections to the underlying data can be made on themoviedb.org.
Filmdex's own material
The Filmdex name, logo, design, texts and software belong to Emin Karaman or are used under licence. You may use them only to use the service as intended; you may not copy, modify or distribute them without permission, except where the law allows it.
Ending or suspending an account
- You may stop using Filmdex and delete your account at any time.
- We may suspend or delete an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these Terms or the law, or where this is needed to protect other users, Filmdex or third parties. Where appropriate we will warn you first and tell you the reason.
- When an account is deleted, its data is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.
No warranty
Filmdex is a free service provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent permitted by law, we give no warranty that it is accurate, uninterrupted or secure, or that it is fit for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
- To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data or profit, or damage caused by other users, by third-party services (such as TMDB or YouTube) or by events outside our reasonable control.
- Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for intent or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law (including Article 115 of the Turkish Code of Obligations), and nothing affects the mandatory rights you have as a consumer.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms, for example when we add features or the law changes. The current version and its dates are shown at the top of this page. If a change is material, we will tell registered users in advance, by e-mail or on the site, and ask them to accept the new version where needed; if you do not agree, you can delete your account before the change takes effect.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. Disputes fall within the jurisdiction of the competent courts and enforcement offices of the Republic of Türkiye. If you use Filmdex as a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, or of your right to bring proceedings before the courts or consumer bodies that are competent under those rules.
Before taking any formal step, please write to us so that we can try to resolve the matter together.
Language
These Terms are published in Turkish and in English. If the two versions differ, the Turkish version prevails, unless the mandatory rules of the country where you live as a consumer require otherwise.
